Price Hiking Spree: Diesel, LPG Prices To Hike

While consumers are already staggering to cope with the skyrocketing prices of petrol, the news of possible hike in the price of the diesel and LPG is indeed an unpleasant and unwelcomed thing that could happen to the common people at this point of time.

After the announcement of fuel price hike starting May 24 midnight, diesel and LPG are likely to follow suit. There are reports suggesting that government is contemplating a cut in subsidies on diesel, kerosene and LPG.

According to sources, the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) will meet on Friday to discuss a possible hike in diesel and LPG prices as well. Media reports said that oil companies are trying for Rs 5 hike in diesel to keep pace with surging petrol prices.

According to the latest petrol price revision, the increase of Rs.6.28 per litre is exclusive of Sales Tax / VAT. So the hike per litre will be over Rs 7.50 across the country.

Hence, the oil companies want the government to shorten the differences in terms of price between the inflammable commodities.

Here is the revised petrol price state-wise:

2030 Enes Grand Prix Concept

Enes GP is a Grand Prix racing car design for 2030 year. The concept inspired by the Grand Prix cars of Golden Era motorsports racings in the late 1930’s with distinct low slung shape, tall thin wheels and dreamatic open-wheel design. In the rear of the concept there are 3 vertical wings for air-braking system.

Concept has an additional “air-brake” spoiler like an aircraft behind the cockpit to reduce wear on the traditional brakes. At the end of long straights on which a very high top speed reaches the air-brake was activates. The panel behind the driver is  mechanically erected while braking, increasing drag to a maximum and causing the car to slow down much faster. After the braking done the panel folds neatly into place again, and the ENES GP returns to its air-cheating slippery shaped self to accelerate out of the corner as fast as possible.

The Enes GP features the most dramatic door mechanism of any vehicle created. A rather dramatic entry to the concept is gained by opening the forward sliding origami-like canopy. Inside, the driver and passenger have unimpeded 180 degree views due to the lack of any A-pillars.

2031 Audi LSR Superbike Concept

These pictures are of the Audi LSR Superbike Concept. This concept streamliner has been designed by Marc Senger. It is expected to be in action at the 2031 Bonneville Speed Week Trials. The manufacturer seems to aiming to destroy the existing Land Speed Record for streamliners and establish a new one. Audi has not revealed any further information with respect to the engine details.

2031 Audi LSR Superbike Concept

It may be powered by either a single or two engines. The chances of this motorcycle being powered by a diesel TDi mill are quite significant too.Currently, the JCB Dieselmax streamliner holds the land speed record of 350mph. ITs is powered by two 5.0 liter 4 cylinder mills that were originally developed to do duty on the manufacturer’s construction vehicles. No other diesel powered streamliner have been able to reach a speed which came threateningly close to the existing record so far.  While, the land speed record of 232.522mph set aboard a single engined streamlined motorcycle (turbo charged Suzuki Hayabusa) is held by Leslie Porterfield. Going by the pictures, Audi’s superbike concept sure looks fast and seems quite capable of attaining glory in the top speed stakes. Guess, we have to till the Speed Week Trials are held at Bonneville in 2031 to hear now Audi’s superbike concept fares.

Lefas motorcycles

Lefas is the “brand name” of the motorcycles, engines and other systems created by the Greek engineer Thanassis Lefas. Lefas was a brilliant engineer who devoted his career in improving the motorcycle design, but not nearly as good an entrepreneur as reflected by the fate of his designs. A motorcycle enthusiast form early age, he worked for years making improvements in motorcycles for trials races. In 1982 he decided to incorporate all his improvement ideas into a completely new motorcycle. Introduced in 1984, the 370cc motorcycle featured a large number of novel features in suspension (claimed to be the first with single rear shock absorber), brakes, frame and engine, all entirely designed and constructed by Lefas.

Lefas motorcycles

This superb bike was intended for production; Lefas had already planned diffent versions and personally worked on the infrastructure for series manufacture of all its parts, including the engine. However, he soon abandoned this project. Levels of state funding and support have been quoted as one reason, but this move was made mostly by choice, as Lefas focused entirely on a completely new design. Having “rejected” conventional front arrangement patterns (as eventually he did for the entire contemporary motorcycle design concept) as prone to instability especially during sudden turns, he developed the prototype of a completely new motorcycle between 1991 and 1994. Powered by a 900cc Ducati engine, the motorcycle incorporated a number of particularly unconventional features, including a rather complex front steering/suspension design. Prototype was tested in 1994 and exhibited superb riding performance and stability during turns; a patent application was subsequently made. Once more, though, the fate of the design was determined by Lefas’s personal choices. A plan for production in Greece failed due to disagreements on financial matters with the Greek company interested in the project. The death in 1995 of the famous motorcycle engineer John Britten, a good friend of Lefas who also proposed new ideas in motorcycle design, and the failure to convince companies abroad to incorporate his design, lead Lefas to temporarily withdraw from all original developments. He even rejected an invitation by Britten’s family to move to New Zealand and continue Britten’s work. In 2002, nonetheless, he resumed research work, developing a novel 4-stroke engine/frame unit while simultaneously working as a consultant in other engineering projects. Interest in his 1994 prototype resumed in late 2003, when a Greek businessman owning a plant in Austria asked Lefas to develop a new frame (incorporating his front design) around a Triumph engine with the intent to produce the bike. Work on the new frame had started when Lefas became aware of serious health problems. In a move to “secure” a reliable prototype for future production (as he realized his deteriorating condition), he chose to perfect the 1994 motorcycle model before attempting to complete the new development. Thanassis Lefas died in December 2005 at the age of 53.

2012 Audi e-bike Worthersee Concept

Audi is known for their four-wheel drive prowess, with the Quattro mentality embodied in their very logo. But at  Worthersee AutoNews 2012 show in Austria, they pulled the sheets off of a two-wheeled creation: Their lithium-ion-battery-powered E-bike Worthersee concept.

We’ve seen automakers design bicycles to tuck in the trunk before, but this one isn’t intended as a crunchy green adjunct to driving; instead it’s meant to be an unabashed display of Audi’s design and technology prowess. They make no bones about the fact that the bike is intended for “sport, fun and tricks,” which explains why the thing produces more torque than my VW Golf did and has a top speed of 50 freaking miles per hour. The Audi e-bike Worthersee combines the Audi brand’s principal competences – design, ultra, connect and e-tron—and explores the limits of what is technically feasible in terms of design, lightweight construction, networking and electric mobility. [The] ultra-light carbon-fiber frame weighs only 1,600 grams (3.53 lb). It makes use of bionic principles derived from nature. Material reinforcements are needed only at the points where loads actually occur. The swinging arm for the rear wheel is also made of CFRP. All in all, the Audi e-bike Worthersee represents the full extent of the brand’s expertise in ultra-lightweight design.

The bike has three levels of power: You can either provide all of the juice by pedaling, provide some of the juice with the electric motor taking up the slack, or have the electric motor do all the work. Beyond that are two somewhat bizarre-sounding “Wheelie” modes, where you’re meant to tip the bike back on its rear wheel and ride it like a Segway, with the motor taking care of the balance and braking or accelerating when you lean forwards or backwards.
