Garware-Hyosung, is now in the news as they are planning to launch a new range of  250cc to 400cc motorcycles in India and they will be dual purpose on-off road motorcycle. The one thing to be noted is that, recently Hero also launched their dirt bike Impulse, which is also a on road and off road bike.
In the year 2013, the company has planned to launch their 250CC bike in India, which might be Hyosung RT250D off road motorcycle. The current one in the lineup for the launch is the RT125D off road motorcycle. This also means that the 250CC bike will feature a bigger engined version RT125D.

Like all other Garware-Hyosung motorcycles that are been sold in India, the Garware-Hyosung  RT250D is also expected to be assembled by means of completely knocked down(CKD) kits at the motorcycle maker’s Wai assembly unit in Maharashtra. The company is also planing to expand its model line up by setting up another assembly unit next to the current set up at Wai.

The company also have the XRX400 400cc twin cylinder enduro motorcycle in its line up, so it might be interesting what the new 250CC engine has to offer. The bike is also said to be launched by the year 2013. The  125cc engine on the Hyosung RT125D is a single cylinder unit with 13 Bhp and is oil cooled.

The only thing which will determine the success of the bike will be the price. If the price is too high, the sales will be too low.

Erik Buell Racing – Hero Moto Corp ..Tie-up

Auto Parts Warehouse

NEW DELHI: Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler maker, has signed a technology-sharing deal with US motorcycle firm Erik Buell Racing (EBR), a year after ending a 27-year-old pact with Japan’s Honda Motors.

Munjals-owned Hero MotoCorp will buy technology from EBR without sharing profits or ownership. After its December 2010 breakup with Honda, the Indian company had been scouting for new technology to compete better in the domestic two-wheeler segment where it holds 56% market share.

“It’s a very flexible partnership where they will develop cutting-edge technology based on our needs and market demands,” Hero MotoCorp managing director and CEO Pawan Munjal said, adding that the company will first develop bikes bigger than its top-end 225cc Karizma ZMR.

EBR, a specialist in customised superbikes, is already working on some of Hero MotoCorp’s products and will develop new bikes and scooters that are likely to hit the market in 2013. Hero does not intend to launch 1,000cc and above superbikes immediately and will gradually move up the value chain.

Hero MotoCorp, earlier known as Hero Honda, competes with Bajaj, TVS, Honda and Yamaha in the domestic two-wheeler segment, which is forecast to grow 10%-12% in the next fiscal year. It had grown into the world’s largest-selling bike brand on the back of technology from the Japanese automaker, with which it was sharing equity and paying royalty on every product. Honda, which operates its own subsidiary in India, is currently Hero’s closest rival in the domestic market.

Hero, one of largest business houses in India, posted its highest quarterly profit at Rs 613 crore in the quarter ended December 31. The company, which is reported to have cash reserves of more than Rs 4,000 crore, plans to enlarge its R&D setup at Daruhera into a full-fledged design and engineering centre with EBR’s help.

“We are open to all options as we move into being a diversified automotive company,” Munjal said.

EBR has already developed a hybrid scooter concept, Leap, which was showcased by Hero at the Auto Expo in New Delhi earlier this year.

“We are already customising technologies for Hero MotoCorp using the frugal Indian engineering expertise that would be available for developing different kinds of two wheelers,” EBR chairman Eric Buell said, adding, “After Leap, we plan to bring in some bikes that would have a global appeal and can be locally manufactured.”

Separately, Hero also announced plans to enter motorcycle racing by sponsoring two teams-Hero and AMSOIL Hero-in the AMA Pro Racing National Guard Superbikes Championship in the USA. “As a company to nurture sporting talent, we intend to develop a full-fledged team for racing and would gradually develop teams from India,” Munjal said.

HYOSUNG COMET- TO BE RELAUNCHED

Remember the (in)famous bike Comet 250? Few years back , Hyosung landed in India with now almost nonexistent Kinetic to trade their 250cc V twin-cylinder naked premium segment bike which was christened as Comet. The naked bike was launched in a segment where no other manufacturer ever tried to enter till now which translated into a fan following with even movie star advertising for the two-wheeler. The Comet died a slow death because of their Partner Company and sales and service network in India.

The 250cc segment market expanded considerably after that; Kawasaki launched Ninja 250R with parallel twin configuration and became an instant hit. Honda also followed into the segment with CBR 250R with single cylinder and considerably low price than Ninja.
Hyosung re-entered the Indian market with new partners Garware who takes care of their operational processes in the country. Currently , their product portfolio includes GT650R , GT650N and ST7 cruiser , with all of them carrying a sticker price of more than Rs. 4lakh which many prospective customers found a tad too much for unreliable Korean machines. Kawasaki again gained the upper hand with the launch of Ninja 650R with lower retail price than Hyosung , which killed all the excitement about Hyosung bikes in India.
Now Hyosung is trying to gain more shares in Indian bike market with the speculative launch of GT250R and if news is to be believed then we might see the quarter liter class bike might hit Indian shores in couple of months. The bookings for the bike will open in early May 2012. With looks inspired from the elder sibling GT650R , the 250cc V-Twin motor will generate a maximum of 29bhp with 22Nm of maximum torque and is expected to be priced somewhere in middle of Honda CBR 250R and Ninja 250R.
