THE NEW 2012 TVS APACHE180 RTR

NEW TVS APACHE  2012 Full Fairing

Well, TVS may have actually unleashed the racing DNA in India with its Apache range of motorcycles. Available in the 160cc and 180cc variant, the bike poses as a tough contender to the R15, Pulsar 150 and various other 150cc bikes available in the market. The plus point of the motorcycle is the rev friendly engine which truly stands to the ‘RTR’ (Racing Throttle Response) levels of expectation.

2012 New TVS APACHE- Full Fairing

The peppiness of the bike is an advantage due to its light weight nature. However, it may not fit into everyone’s good books due to the enormous amounts of vibes it creates. Backaches are something common due to the uncomfortable seats and sporty stance which makes it a bit tough for city traffic and long rides. Even though the spares may not need frequent replacement, they are costly and the engine often cries for service due to its rough nature.

2012 New TVS APACHE- Full Fairing

The oldest Apache was quite simple without the sporty additions. Then later on came the rear sets, clip on handlebars, split grab rail, rear disk and many more. To add to this, The Apache was available in the Fuel Injection version too which boasted of a bit higher efficiency. Then came the 180cc RTR following which, a cosmetically redesigned Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge came into existence.

With this, TVS is all set to launch a new face-lifted model at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo which is scheduled to be held in January. Our friends at Motorbeam have managed to come across a picture which suggests that this model could be a fully faired version of the Apache. This fully faired Apache was recently displayed in Indonesia by TVS. At a first glance, the bike looks no different from any other sports bike; moreover it looks like a miniature Gixxer. However, as compared to the previous Apaches, this one is definitely more muscular to give it a sportier look. What raises doubts though is the weird font used for the word ‘Apache’ on the bike. The headlamp resembles that of a Gixxer. Expect the bike to burn rubber on Indian streets soon. And let’s hope TVS unleashes more Racing DNAs in the country with this fully faired Apache.

Fully Faired TVS Apache Showcased in Indonesia

TVS Apache RTR 180 :

It accelerates very quickly to 80 kmph with its 17.3ps of raw powers on the city roads which is still a challenge to other bikes. Though the top that TVS claims is 124kmph it can even accelerate up to 130 kmph easily says the bike lovers.

Awesome acceleration and the racy feel of the bike make it an irresistible one with its rotary petal disc brakes. The expensive spares, vibrating mudguard, uncomfortable seats makes it loose its credibility. But for one to find a good performing bike within the budget of 75000, this one is a better choice.

The Apache RTR 180 is powered by a 177.4cc engine with 17 bhp and 15.5 Nm of torque. The new engine has a considerable upgrade in the Engine with nearly 1.3 bhp more.

Hope we see more than the previous one in the new Fully Faired  TVS Apache

Triumph Motorcycles- 125cc India

The UK’s Triumph Motorcycles could soon take on domestic biggies, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj and TVS, in the mass market bike segment.

Triumph Motorcycles India

The niche bike-maker is developing a new 125cc model for launch by end of next year in emerging markets, sources close to the development said.

This will be a marked strategy shift for the company, whose current portfolio focuses on premium-end two-wheelers.

“Officials from Triumph had met component suppliers during a meet in 2011. They had talked about plans for a cheaper, 125cc model, which may be built in India by next year,” a person close to the development said.

Triumph Motorcycles, however, did not respond to e-mail queries. At present, the smallest bike in its portfolio is the 675cc Daytona, going up to the 2,300cc Rocket III.

PLANT IN KARNATAKA

The company, which unveiled its range in India during the Delhi Auto Expo in January, is expected to set up an assembly plant in Karnataka this year. Its third such plant, after UK and Thailand, this will initially assemble four models for the local market — Bonneville, Street Triple, Speed Triple and Daytona.

A head-office in New Delhi is also expected to be operational by July.

“With developed markets such as Europe and the US contracting, all bike- and car-makers are looking to attract more customers from Asia. India is already the world’s second largest two-wheeler market and it makes sense for Triumph to build a larger base here as, unlike China, there is a big biking culture here,” an industry expert said.

Triumph’s India strategy is on the same lines as another premium bike marque — Harley-Davidson.

The US-based firm, which set up its local assembly plant in Haryana last year, is also reportedly developing an India-specific model.

Though still in the premium range, at a Rs 4 lakh expected price, this is expected to sport a 500-750cc engine and is also due for launch by next year.

Harley’s India bike may also be exported to other markets in South-East Asia.

Triumph Motorcycles, the iconic British motorcycle brand, has always set the pace for category winning machines that offer a blend of design, character, desirability and performance combined to create truly distinctive motorcycles.

At the 11th Auto Expo in Delhi we showcased our model range for India which has motorcycles from all our product families and include the parallel-twin, Bonneville, the iconic naked roadsters Speed Triple and Street Triple, the off-roader Tiger 800XC, class-leading supersport bike Daytona 675 and the cruisers Storm and Rocket III.

Auto Expo 2012- motorcycles displayed

“We are considering to extend the show by a couple of days more. For the next auto show, we will put this proposal as organisers, but it is for the exhibitors to take the final call on it as each extra day would mean an additional cost for them,” CII Trade Fairs Council Chairman Rajive Kaul told PTI.

He said the lesson learnt from the experience this time is that one day should be reserved strictly for the media and exhibitors and no extra passes should be given out for that day.

The 11th Auto Expo co-hosted by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers), CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) and ACMA (Automotive Component Manufacturers Association) kicked off at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi on January 5 and is on till January 11.

Kaul, however, feels that crowd management continues to be a challenge for organisers of the show.

“Managing the crowd is a challenge as there is a lot of interest from people across age groups and infrastructural bottlenecks remain,” he added.

The organisers have already taken several steps to make it easier for all the stakeholders of the show, he claimed.

“In the past, we had never put a cap on the number of visitors, but this time we have put a restriction of one lakh people, including 30,000 people from the exhibitors’ list and support staff,” he said.

Even the exhibition space this time has been reduced to create 10,000 square metres of free space for people to walk around. Furthermore, the number of exhibitors has been reduced to 1,500 from 2,100 in 2010, he said.

“To make ticket access easy for public, we have sold tickets at 26 metro stations as well. We have also tried to minimise the chances of copying passes and tickets
