2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 – Visordown
KAWASAKI’S entry-level Ninja is getting a boost as it becomes a Ninja 300 for 2013.
The Ninja 300 has a larger-displacement 296cc fuel-injected parallel twin engine with dual throttle valves. In terms of power the 300 will gain 7bhp with an output of 39bhp. As manufacturers are seemingly reinventing a class that was previously owned by 250cc two-strokes, despite being a four-stroke the Ninja 300 is getting close to their power figures as the old RG250 Gamma only did about 45bhp.The new bike also features “advanced racing-derived technology” in the form of a slipper clutch and a back-torque limiter. A slipper clutch on a 300? How trick. The 300 takes its styling cues from the Ninja family with the windscreen from the ZX-10R, dual headlights like the ZX-6R, and fairing and wheels reminiscent of the ZZR1400. The Ninja 300 will also be avaiable with ABS.

 The Aspid Invictus GT-21

Meanwhile, in Gotham, Aspid has released this – the GT-21 Invictus. It sounds like a hedge fund, but it’s actually a 450bhp rear-wheel-drive GT that’ll get from 0-60mph in under three seconds, top out at 189mph and pull 1.6g on the skidpad. Despite the hoofing great BMW-sourced 4.4-litre V8, Aspid’s kept weight to a piffling 989.7kg by using a composite panels and a spaceframe chassis. And they claim that, despite the diminutive mass, there’s accommodation for four actual humans as well as room for modest luggage. Underneath, there’s a set of clever pushrod dampers, all-aluminium double wishbones, adaptive airbags, stability control and anti-lock brakes. And that readers, is all the info we have so far. The company hopes to have the Invictus ready for 2014, but there’s no word on pricing either.

2012 Husqvarna TR650 Strada and Terra

Husqvarna has unveiled its two new models – the TR650 Strada and TR650 Terra. While the former will be tarmac-biased, the latter will be more inclined to off-roading. Both the bikes will be powered by the single-cylinder 652cc engine from the BMW G650GS, tuned to produce 60PS. Those on a restricted license can buy the 48PS version.

Husqvarna will be kitting the Strada with ABS, a commitment BMW Motorrad recently announced as standard on their 2013 range of motorcycles. The Terra in the meanwhile will have ABS on the options list. The ABS though can be disengaged at the push of the button. Other optional extras include windshield, hand protectors, low seat, engine guard, heated grips, alarm system, rear softbag, topcase and side pannier.

2013 BMW F 700 GS AND 2013 BMW F 800 GS ~ OVERVIEW

Reviewed By BMW’s F-series model family includes four motorcycles powered by the company’s 798cc parallel twin engine: 2013 BMW F 800 R, 2013 BMW F 800 ST, 2013 BMW F 650 GS and 2013 BMW  F 800 GS. When BMW decided to update the two models in its popular GS enduro line, it also looked to clear up some confusion over model names. Despite being powered by the same 798cc engine, though in different states of tune, BMW’s street-oriented enduro is called the F 650 GS and its more offroad-oriented enduro is called the F 800 GS. Displacement hasn’t changed, but the F 650 GS will now be called the F 700 GS, though it does get a small boost in power and torque.

2013 BMW F 700 GS AND 2013 BMW F 800 GS

The transverse, liquid-cooled parallel twin that powers the F 700 GS and the F 800 GS has four valves per cylinder, electronic fuel injection, a closed-loop catalytic converter and a 6-speed gearbox. It features an additional connecting rod that serves as a counterbalancer to smooth out vibration. In the F 800 GS, the engine is tuned to deliver the same claimed 85 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 61 lb-ft of torque at 5,750 rpm as before. The F 700 GS generates a claimed 75 horsepower at 7,300 rpm and 57 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm, up 4 horsepower and 2 lb-ft from the F 650 GS. The F 700 GS also features a shorter overall gear ratio for quicker acceleration. The steel tubular frame that uses the engine as a stressed member, steel subframe, aluminum swingarm, wheels (cast on F 700 GS, spoked on F 800 GS) are unchanged.

2013 BMW F 700 GS

2013 BMW F 700 GS

2013 BMW F 700 GS

The new F 700 GS gets a second disc brake on the front wheel, like the F 800 GS, and both models are fitted as standard with BMW Motorrad two-channel ABS. Two popular options have been added for the first time in this middleweight segment—Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA) and Automatic Stability Control (ASC), or traction control. ESA allows the rider to conveniently set rebound damping of the rear shock at the press of a button on the handlebars, with the settings “Comfort,” “Normal” or “Sport” available. Unlike other BMW models where ESA is offered, spring preload for the rear shock is set by hand, using a remote adjuster knob. ASC prevents unwanted spinning of the rear wheel while accelerating, which could result in the loss of lateral grip and a slide. The new F 700 GS and F 800 GS also feature the latest generation of BMW Motorrad switchgear, which is more compact and offers improved ergonomics. They also get new instrumentation that’s easier to read and offers more information, including fuel level and coolant temperature. Styling updates include new side trim, a new handlebar clamp and windscreen for the F 700 GS, and smoke gray turn signals and LED taillight covers. BMW has also increased its range of options and accessories, including a low suspension kit for the F 800 GS.

2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake [ VIDEO ]

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake ( The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Overview , The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Exterior , The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Interior , The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Engine , The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Prices )  once again sets an example when it comes to creativity of design,

Unlike the old wagons, or even the current ones for that matter, the CLS Shooting Brake takes some of the four-door coupe design elements and translates them for wagon use. It might seem like an odd concept at first, but perhaps it’s genius. Wagons have long provided practicality, but that hasn’t exactly helped them fly out the door now has it? So, instead of pushing cargo space, Mercedes will be pushing style and that seems to work well in the automotive market place; just look at those terrible creations from BMW called the X6 and the recently announced X1.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

The CLS Shooting Brake arrives eight years after the original CLS was dropped into the market and it borrows most of its elements from the sedan brother, except for its incredible 590 liter trunk capacity. The model will be offered with a choice of four engines – two diesel engines and two petrol engine – with the top version being the CLS 500 powered by a 408 HP V8 engine. How about that for a shooting brake?

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

The new CLS Shooting Brake measures 4,956 mm in length, 1,881 mm in width, and 1,413 mm in height, and offers a trunk capacity of 590 liter that can be expanded up to 1550 liters when the rear seats are folded down. Despite these incredible dimensions, the new CLS is a very light car thanks to its intelligent lightweight construction: the doors are made from deep-drawn aluminum panels with extruded sections, and so are the tailgate, bonnet, front wings, various support profiles, and substantial parts of the suspension and engines.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

Next to being the first luxury shooting brake, the new model is also the first passenger car in the world to offer optional dynamic full LED High Performance headlamps, which combine the exciting color elements of LED technology.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Interior

For the interior, the new CLS Shooting Brake offers a choice of five colors, five trim designs, and three qualities of leather. There are also three types of wood to choose from: high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash, and satin-finish light-brown poplar.

However, customers have the chance to opt for piano lacquer or AMG carbon fiber/black piano lacquer trim elements or, a completely new addition, porcelain interior appointments.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Engine

Mercedes is offering its clients a choice of four engines: two diesel engines and two petrol engines. The base version is the CLS 250 CDI. It is powered by an inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 204 HP and a peak torque of 368 lb-ft. This version has a fuel economy of 5.3 liter per 100 km, sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 146 mph.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS

Next in the line-up is the CLS 350 CDI, offered in both standard and 4MATIC versions. This version is powered by a 3.0 liter V6 engine that delivers a total of 265 HP and a peak torque of 457 lbs-ft. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph, with a fuel consumption of 6.0 liter per 100 kilometers (6.6 for the 4Matic version).

Then we have the CLS 350, a model that gets a 3.5 liter V6 with 306 HP and a peak torque of 272 lb-ft. The 350 will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and up to 155 mph, but unlike the 350 CDI, it has a fuel consumption of 7.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

Finally, our favorite is the CLS 500, also offered in standard and 4MATIC versions. It gets a 4.7 liter V8 biturbo engine that delivers an amazing 408 HP and 442 lb-ft of torque. This version will go from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds, but unfortunately top speed is still limited to 155 mph. Fuel consumption for this version is 9.8 liters.

All engines will be offered with the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and ECO start/stop function, while the 4MATIC versions will also get all-wheel drive systems.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Prices

The new CLS Shooting Brake will go on sale at the end of the year. Prices will be announced at a later date.

Launch : 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE INDIA ~ Overview

Priced between Rs 13.85 lakh – Rs 15.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the new 2012 Chevrolet Cruze

(2012 Chevrolet Cruze ~ Overview 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Price in India – Rs 13.85 – 15.67 Lakhs as on 2012-06-27. Read New 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Review, 2012 Chevrolet Cruze ) is now 16PS stronger, a whole second faster (0-100km/h) and seals the lid over any minor objection you may have had with the outgoing model, especially in terms of headroom at the back and driver comfort upfront

2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE  INDIA ~ Overview

The final result is not a face-lifted Cruze, but a 2012 edition (Old Cruze vs New Cruze Specs) in which now resides a brilliantly re-engineered 2.0 VCDi unit, which now offers a significant increase in horsepower from 150PS @ 4,000rpm to 166PS @ 3,800rpm and an increase in torque from 327Nm @ 2,600rpm to a whopping 380Nm @ 2,000rpm.

2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE  INDIA ~ Overview

As per recent tests, the new Chevrolet Cruze returned a rather satisfactory 10kmpl in crawling city traffic and 17kmpl on the highway from its manual gearbox’d LTZ variant. And handling wise, it’s pretty much the same story thanks to the stiffened suspension to cope with the heavier engine.
Besides all the significant power and performance improvements on the new model, two customer comfort focused features that are now part of the package include an electrically adjustable seat position for the driver’s seat in the top-end LTZ model and more importantly improved headroom at the rear, which was a major point of contention in the previous model.

2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE  INDIA ~ Overview

The new six-speed manual LTZ variant we tested completed its 0-100km/h sprint in 10.7seconds, knocking almost a whole second off the earlier car. Top speed remains fatal at over 200km/h, but hitting that magic 200 figure on an uphill climb with an automatic box will require some added  Otherwise, everything is where it always was; even the ‘Jet-Black’ interiors and its accompanying convenience, comfort and media connectivity features introduced last year have been maintained.

2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE  INDIA ~ Overview

Starting from a price of Rs 13.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base LT variant all the way upto to Rs 15.67 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the fully loaded auto box spec model, Chevy’s top-selling nameplate is back with a cannon under the hood and a new baton in its hand, ready to sprint faster than ever before and keep its customers safer, more delighted and all the more at ease while doing so.
