1997 HONDA NSR500 Moto Gp 499 cc V-4 -200bhp-engine

The Honda NSR500 is a race motorcycle from the Honda NSR series. It was created by HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) and debuted in 1984 for the Grand Prix motorcycle racing’s 500 cc class. Honda won ten 500cc World Championships with the NSR500 from 1984 to present, six in a row 1994 to 1999. With more than 100 wins to its credit, the NSR500 is the most dominant force in modern Grand Prix motorcycle racing. 1990-1998 HONDA NSR500 Moto Gp Though the 499 cc V-4 could produce more than 200 horsepower (150 kW), chassis development, sophisticated engine management and an Australian named Mick Doohan made the NSR500 a legend in the 1990s. Extensive testing in 1991 led to a new aluminum chassis patterned on the successful RVF750 endurance racer. Honda unveiled a revolutionary idea with a 1992 V4 that was timed to fire all four cylinders within 65-70 degrees of crankshaft rotation — the so-called “Big-Bang” engine. Along with a balance shaft that neutralized the single crankshaft engine’s gyroscopic effects, the 1992 NSR500 was a breakthrough. Emphasizing acceleration over sheer speed, Doohan used this engine to win five of the first seven 500 Grand Prix races of 1992. Although a badly broken leg denied Doohan’s bid for the 1992 World Championship, he would not be denied for long. Beginning in 1994, Doohan and the NSR500 won five consecutive 500 cc World Championships. Winning 12 of 15 races in 1997, he broke a single-season win record that was set in 1972. Combining for 54 total 500 Grand Prix wins, no man and machine in modern history had dominated the 500 World Championship so thoroughly. From around 1997, the NSR500 again featured the older “Screamer” engine in some factory racers, with Mick Doohan preferring the higher outright power of this design despite it being much more difficult to harness.

Michael Schumacher | Schuberth Helmets

Michael-schumacher-formula-1-motorcycle-race-F1-helmets

Schuberth’s ace in the hole is Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher. The German star delivers constant feedback to Schuberth R&D in the development of its Formula 1 helmet, which feature carbon fiber shells, fire resistant layers and literally bulletproof materials. Along with Schumacher, Schuberth F1 lids also adorn the head of driver Felipe Massa. It was who Massa survived a potentially fatal encounter during qualifying at the 2009 Hungarian GP when his Schuberth helm withstood the two-ton impact of track debris on his visor.Amazingly, Schuberth doesn’t pay racers to utilize or promote its product. While that sounds incredulous, when we pressed Schuberth reps about financial reimbursement for Schumacher in particular they were adamant. The German star receives no money or endorsement fee. He lends his time and developmental input because Schuberth delivers him helmets for his racing activities, both four-wheeled and two. And don’t think Michael Schumacher’s name isn’t worth some scratch. The company claims that since its collaboration with Michael Schumacher the average age for its motorcycle helmet product line in Europe has dropped from 40 to 30! As for motorcycles, it’s no secret that Michael Schumacher’s recent foray into two-wheeled racing has been with purpose-built Schuberth motorcycle helmets. We saw one of the carbon fiber prototypes ourselves, including the scrapes from one of Michael Schumacher’s two-wheeled get-offs (staff members say all his test helmets have them). As for when we’ll see the likes of Rossi, Lorenzo or Spies sporting Schuberth helmets in MotoGP, or the other top-tier road-racing series. Time will tell, but we somehow doubt the supposed altruism of Michael Schumacher will extend to the professional motorcycle paddock. There’s no money in it!

MOMOTO MM1 It was once known as the PETRONAS FP1, It was about 10 years back when this particular machine was introduced to the world. It was created with a sole purpose in it’s design, it was meant to be the best in it’s field. But not everything turned out according to plan. Following a succession of failure and negativity in their involvement with motorsports, they were force to be drawn out from the global eyes entirely into a very long hiatus. That is until now, where it is back to join the exciting world of motorcycle.Once a phenomenon in the history of Malaysian motorsports and motorcycle industry, highly praised and highly criticized at the same time by the general public and the media. The story of this particular bike is truly unique and clouds with secrecy. It was once known as the Petronas FP1, and now it’s back with a new refreshed looks. A new personality but at the same time retaining it’s original soul. The Momoto MM1, a legend that is back from it’s hiding saying hello to world of motorcycle.

VALENTINO ROSSI’S 2013 MOTOGP PLANS

Valentino Rossi to Yamaha for the 2013 MotoGP ?

Valentino Rossi to Yamaha for the 2013 MotoGP ?

On August the 15th 2010, Rossi announced that he’s leaving Yamaha and he signed a two year contract with Ducati. This August the 15th 2012, Valentino Rossi will (most likely) announce that he’s coming back to Yamaha squad and that he’s leaving the troubled Ducati. Coincidence or just a firm statement, it doesn’t matter in the end. Rossi will ride the Yamaha M1 in the 2013 MotoGP alongside (MotoGP Champion for 2012?) Jorge Lorenzo. The rumors started last week with Niall Mackenzie and his tweet that Rossi was spotted at Yamaha HQ in Amsterdam. Later in the week, the “hacked tweets and emails” all appeared to be a hoax. But as they say, “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”, and a long string of Ducati and 46Vale failures – culminating with the crash at Laguna Seca (caused by Ducati’s prototype lack of ability to put some heat in the front tire – resulting in a “ridiculous” crash by front wheel lock) cleared one thing. Rossi will leave Ducati. The puzzles of the 2013 riders lineup slowly starts to fit into place. Marquez and Pedrosa are in the HRC Honda team, Rossi and Lorenzo will ride for Yamaha, Nicky Hayden and Cal Crutchlow will ride for Ducati. We say this pretty confidently as we think Dovizioso will be too “pissed off” for not getting his chance with a competitive factory bike – that he would go to WSBK (just a presumption). Ben Spies, having one of the worst cases of bad luck in the history of the MotoGP, will eventually move to WSBK as well – or so we think.

MotoGp: Stoner takes championship lead with win at Estoril

Repsol Honda’s Casey Stoner made it two wins in a row to take the lead in the MotoGP™ championship with victory at the Grande Prémio de Portugal Circuito Estoril.

The Repsol Honda Team pair of Dani Pedrosa and Stoner gave the crowd action from the start, as the two touched fairings going into turn one, with Stoner taking the lead into turn two. Factory Yamaha Team’s Jorge Lorenzo took full advantage of this to sneak into second to hunt down the Australian, who was soon pulling out a gap.

Lorenzo’s teammate Spies, who had been in fourth, ran wide early on to drop back down the order into seventh, with Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi on his tail. Meanwhile, four laps in, Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Andrea Dovizioso pushed past his teammate Cal Crutchlow to go into fourth place behind Pedrosa.

With 21 laps to go, Lorenzo and Pedrosa were chipping away at Stoner’s lead, as they closed the gap to just under one second. On the same lap, Crutchlow ran wide in the first turn whilst trying to outbreak his Italian teammate, yet managed to retain his position, as the pair continued their lonely battle for fourth.

With 16 laps to go Speed Master’s CRT entry Mattia Pasini crashed out as he lost the front of his ART machine, while at the same time Avintia Blusens’ Iván Silva retired after suffering too much pain from his warm-up crash.

At the halfway point of the race, Lorenzo had closed in on Stoner, while his Yamaha teammate made it past LCR Honda MotoGP’s Stefan Bradl to take eighth. Avintia Blusens’ day went from bad to worse, as Yonny Hernandez crashed out with 11 laps to go, yet walking away unscathed.

Paul Bird Motorsport’s difficult start to the season also continued, as Briton James Ellison pulled into the pits nine laps before the end with a mechanical issue on his ART bike. Cardion AB Racing´s Karel Abraham suffered a crash five laps from the end, making this the third Grand Prix in succession he has not been able to finish.

With the battle between the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 pair hotting up towards the end, Crutchlow was desperate to get past the Italian, but once again forced his bike off track. Further down the field, Bradl had re-taken Spies for eighth, though the American soon fought back.

Three laps before the end, just as Lorenzo seemed to be catching Stoner, the Australian put the hammer down to open the gap to more than a second once more. At the end it was Stoner who took the checker flag in front of Lorenzo and his Repsol teammate Pedrosa. Stoner has now won a race at every single track on the MotoGP calendar in the premier-class.

Andrea Dovizioso held off the late charge from Crutchlow to take fourth, finishing in front of his teammate for the first time this season. San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Álvaro Bautista put in a solid performance as he held sixth position from start to finish, in what was a lonely race for the Spaniard. Valentino Rossi claimed his best finish of the season in seventh, beating Yamaha’s Ben Spies, who did not manage to recover from a difficult start to the race. LCR’s Stefan Bradl finished in ninth, whilst Pramac Racing’s Héctor Barberá rounded out the top ten. Power Electronics Aspar’s Espargaró took top CRT spot for a second race in succession.
